Join us for a City-Wide Prayer Walk:
May 21
At anytime during the day go out for a walk and pray for our city.
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
– 2 Chronicles 7:14 –

As we “gather” on Thursday, we come together in the Spirit although we are physically distant. Possibly more than any other point in history, we have a call to go to battle. God has given us His armour (Ephesians 6) and has given us the call to intercede. While we walk let’s remember to pray in a few different ways.

  1. Pray for safety in homes – As children and families are together more often, we need to pray that God sustains parents and children and that conflict is worked through in a healthy way.
  2. Pray for health and protection for all – Those that work in the medical field are most closely at risk and those that work in any sort of public sector are also in a less controlled environment, so they need prayer as well.
  3. Pray for strongholds to be broken – As you walk and pray, discern the things in that area that are hindering the Spirit from moving. Pray against the enemy’s work and pray for deliverance. Ask God to show you particular houses that may need more focused prayer time.
  4. Pray a blessing over homes and businesses.
  5. Pray that the Kingdom of God would reign in this city.
  6. Pray for the political leaders.
  7. Be attentive to those around you as you walk. Intercede for individuals and be ready to answer questions if they ask. God may ask you to enter into a conversation with someone… maybe He will prompt you to offer to pray for them right then.

Please share your observations and experiences with the rest of us below. We’d love to hear from you! And consider committing to a half hour per week to cover this city in prayer 24/7. Sign up here!

I thought it would be great to have a city-wide prayer walk. I realize that we cannot gather in groups but if we send this info out to our congregations, we can join in Spirit to pray for our city. I have chosen Thursday, May 21st which happens to be Ascension Day. Jesus gave us the Great Commission that day and it is in that Spirit that we pray… I believe that every one of us would affirm that our greatest calling after pursuing God with all our hearts is to bring the gospel to all nations and to make disciples. Prayer walk could include walking the Rotary Trail and surrounding the city with prayer, or it could be walking the area around your church (this way we would likely cover the whole city as well). It can happen at any point during the day…. morning, noon or night. What I would love to hear is feedback on what people sensed or heard from God as they prayed.
Blessings to you,
